The Dance Shack/Courses/Beginner Salsa
HAVE FUN - NO PARTNER NEEDED!
Be able to go out when you want and have a good time! Our beginner Salsa course will give you the ability to dance at a basic level, meet others in the class, and go out together as a group and HAVE FUN! Salsa is a staple in many nightclubs and Latin restaurants, both in Jacksonville and throughout the country. This beginner course is for people who have never danced before!
WHAT YOU GET
With this course you will learn the basic steps in salsa that you need to be able to dance. As your first Salsa course, you get a Salsa Course Divider which will track your levels, your friends to practice with, your favorite music, and contains a brief history of the Salsa, and more.
The Steps:

Basic & Underarm Turn Right – The most popular step in Salsa, the basic will have you on your way to a new adventure! The Underarm Turn is used to show off the girl.

Broken Turn – Easy to lead, this unusual turn is used as a quick “pop” to accent the music.

Back Breaks & Underarm Turn Left – The back breaks are the only way some people know how to dance Salsa. Once you know the Back Breaks, you'll instantly be able to dance with more people. The Left Turn introduces you to turning from the Back Breaks.

Cross Body Lead – This step is used to make the dance more interesting to look at, often replacing the basic, and used as a linking step. As you become more proficient, you will use this step and it's variations about 70%(!) of the time.

Catch the Back – This move introduces the element of the Open Break, and yet another turn, one that will travel down the floor!
